Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen is raising concerns about President Biden’s federal policies, which he thinks permit illegal immigrants and non-citizens designated procedure.
Throughout a current conversation with Fox News Digital, Allen highlighted Executive Order 14019, checked in 2021, competing that the Biden administration’s expansive reading of the 1993 National Voter Registration Act changes the whole federal administration into a huge network of voter registration drives, successfully harnessing the full power of the federal government to improve voter registration.
According to the secretary, an inquiry was launched after a voter expressed an issue about receiving a citizen registration type in the mail from an Alabama state agency, resolved to a relative who had passed away two years prior. Upon more investigation, Allen’s office discovered that specific state companies, consisting of those that get federal funding for programs like Medicaid and well-being, are mandated by the NVRA to offer voter registration types to all people who connect with them.
Allen pointed out that the 2021 executive order does not have the necessary systems to verify that the forms are being explicitly sent to U.S. citizens, encompassing both illegal immigrants and non-citizens.
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen affirms before the Senate
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen testifies during a hearing before the Senate Rules and Administration Committee in Washington, D.C., on March 12.
He mentioned that these individuals get voter registration forms without any regard to their citizenship status.
And that’s why it’s so critically important that the federal government, Congress, reform the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 and then permit the states to conduct their own citizen registration, take it out of the hands of the federal government,” Allen said. It’s through state agencies that are federally funded and, of course, mandated by federal law, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. It doesn’t matter how they contact through the mail, in-person, or online. If they are making an application for these public benefits, if they can be found in contact with that agency, they are getting the voter registration form. Which’s extremely, extremely troubling that non-citizens, whether legal or illegal immigrants are getting those citizen registration kinds.”
Only American citizens must be permitted to vote in our elections. I also believe that the individuals of Alabama believe that American citizens need to be enabled to vote in our elections. Which’s something that I’m not going to back away from,” Allen stated. “Something that we can not back away from. And it’s something that we should stay strong in and continue to advocate for these reforms. Once again, sensible reforms for the National Voter Registration Act of 1993. And we’ve got to put President Trump back in the White House. That’s why we’ve got to have strong GOP majorities in the United States Senate and strong GOP majorities in the United States House of Representatives to make sure that we can reform the NVRA to put some protections in there to confirm citizenship. It is crucial, moving forward, that we do that.”
Executive Order 14019, according to the White House, aims to secure the ballot rights of all eligible American residents, particularly Black and other minority voters.
At the time, the Biden administration evaluated that the order came as part of the obligation of the federal government “to expand access to, and education about, voter registration and election info, and to fight false information, in order to enable all eligible Americans to participate in our democracy.
During a March hearing, Allen attended to the Senate Rules and Administration Committee, highlighting the insufficient resources readily available to state election authorities to guarantee that just qualified American residents are registering to vote or casting ballots in elections.
Throughout the hearing, he discussed that his office sought a list of non-citizens from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services compare to the voter file in Alabama. However, the federal government declined this demand and advised the Alabama secretary of state’s office to utilize the Systematic Alien Verification Entitlements (instead.
Yet, SAVE clearly specifies that it is not to be used to confirm citizenship for citizen registration, Allen affirmed.
Allen emphasized to the committee that with the present circumstance at the US-Mexico border, it’s essential to verify citizenship, regardless of past attempts by states being warded off by federal authorities and the judiciary.
Over 500 people who are not people signed up to vote in the DC Council elections on Tuesday, regardless of concerns raised by lawmakers.
Talking With Fox News Digital on Monday, Allen advocated for two pieces of legislation at the federal level. Initially, he supported the Citizen Ballot Protection Act, first introduced by Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., in December and sponsored in your home by Rep. Gary Palmer, R-Ala. The proposition would permit a state to include a requirement that candidates offer proof of citizenship as part of the mail voter registration form.
Second of all, Allen likewise praised the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, presented simply last month by Reps. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and Mike Lee, R-Utah. That legislation would require states to obtain evidence of citizenship– personally– when registering a specific to vote and require states to eliminate non-citizens from existing citizen rolls.
“Several similar Republican secretaries of state are making it a key focus to inspect this problem thoroughly and shed light on the problems, with the ultimate goal of reforming the National Voter Registration Act of 1993,” Allen described to Fox News Digital.
He stated that not just other authorities but the public in his state appreciates election stability.
He mentioned that homeowners are focused on voting procedures anywhere he goes in Alabama. They want elections that are fair, safe, transparent and responsible. Their priority is to make sure that their votes are counted accurately and with confidence, they take part in the voting process.
On Tuesday, Allen also called out a brand-new executive order (EO) issued by President Biden today that is expected to shield as many as 500,000 illegal immigrants from deportation. It was extensively slammed by Republicans, who argued the order functions as an election-year tactic by Biden to win over Hispanic and Latino voters by enabling illegal immigrants to stay in the country forever under “parole in place” while getting taxpayer-funded advantages.
Wes Allen, the Secretary of State for Alabama, and election authorities representing South Carolina, Nebraska, and Michigan are seen at a hearing in front of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee in Washington, D.C., on March 12.
Today, Biden provided an EO to use mass amnesty to illegal immigrants currently residing in our country,” Allen stated in a statement. Couple this with his previous voter registration EO and it is clear that Biden is trying to win the upcoming election, not by winning over legitimate American citizens, but by attempting to legitimize illegal immigrants. He won’t stop with this EO. He will keep attempting to dilute the power of the vote of legal Americans. Biden and his administration are radical and lawless.
Grabbed comment about both executive orders, a White House spokesperson informed Fox News Digital, “It is unlawful for noncitizens to enact federal elections. Getting security from deportation does not provide a specific right to vote.”
In Alabama, state legislation mandates the use of paper ballots for all elections and restricts the use of internet-connected tabulators on Election Day.
Allen also applauded the state’s image identification law, which needs anybody who appears to vote to provide a valid photo ID.
“We feel those are great, strong statutes to ensure that our elections are strong, safe, protected, transparent, and liable in Alabama,” Allen informed Fox News Digital. And so I want the people of this state to understand that it’s the top priority of our office, this administration, every day when we enter this state Capitol to ensure the elections are strong. And then, at the night’s end, you’ll understand who wins and loses in Alabama.”
While it is illegal for non-citizens to vote in federal elections anywhere across the country, numerous regional jurisdictions, consisting of California, Maryland, Vermont, and New York, have enacted laws allowing non-citizens to enact city or municipal elections in the last few years. More than 500 non-citizens registered to enact the Washington, D.C., council elections earlier this month.
Allen worried that there is no such jurisdiction in the state of Alabama. On necessary reforms to the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, Allen said the law does not allow states to remove individuals who have moved out of state from the voter rolls in a prompt manner. It presently takes 4 years to finish that process, while Allen argued it should instead take only 2.
