Representative Daniel Goldman (D-NY) admits helping prepare disgraced and disbarred lawyer Michael Cohen for his interrogation in the Manhattan-based hush money trial of former President Donald J. Trump.

I have met with him a variety of times to prepare him,” Rep. Goldman said during an interview at MSNBC’s Morning Joe earlier today. The New York Democrat intimated to hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski that he has actively crafted Cohen’s strategy for dealing with the cross-examination by Trump’s defense lawyer.

The legal group representing the ex-president has asked Judge Merchan to step down from the trial due to numerous disputes of interest, including his child Loren Merchan’s political fundraising service and her possible financial gain from the case. Despite these demands, the judge with Democratic ties has declined to recuse himself. Instead, he has restricted the former President, avoiding him from responding to criticisms made by witnesses for the prosecution, including Michael Cohen and Stormy Daniels. Moreover, Trump is not allowed to mention the judge’s daughter or her connections to several high-ranking Democratic Party officials who are supporting the legal actions versus Trump.
