Routh made a court appearance wearing a blue jumpsuit and in restraints, without any description provided by authorities for his actions. A review of his online activity reveals that he formerly endorsed Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard in the 2020 presidential election but confessed to electing Trump in 2016. However, his subsequent posts suggest a shift in his opinion of Trump, with Routh expressing criticism of the previous president. 

Routh suggested in a post on X in June 2020 that if then-President Trump were to buy the Justice Department to examine supposed authorities misbehavior following George Floyd’s death, he a success in the approaching reelection. This event had activated comprehensive riots and demonstrations nationwide.
In another June 2020 post, Routh wrote to Trump’s X account that while he chose him in 2016, he “hoped that President Trump would be various and much better than the prospect.”

“But all of us were considerably disappointed, and it appears you are worsening and devolving. I will be glad when you gone,” he wrote.

In that article, he told the paper he ‘d traveled to Ukraine and spent several months there in 2022 and was trying to recruit Afghan soldiers who fled the Talian to fight in Ukraine.
” A lot of the other conflicts are grey, but this conflict is black and white. This is about good versus evil,” Routh said in an interview posted by Newsweek Romania in June 2022. His comments suggested he was in Kyiv at the time.

The video, made public on Monday, captures the moment deputies instruct Routh two steps to his right before taking him into custody and securing his wrists with handcuffs. The younger Routh also told the Daily Mail that his father doesn’t like Trump and reiterated that his father isn’t violent.
