DODGE: Make the American Economy Great Again
President-elect Donald Trump has officially revealed the creation of a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to the chagrin of most federal bureaucrats, Americans on the dole, and politicians who enjoy spending other individuals’ cash.

Trump declared that the DOGE would overhaul the government’s administrative system, eliminate unneeded regulations, minimize unnecessary spending, and reform federal departments to increase efficiency. Tens of thousands of federal employees will no longer be necessary and will have to enter the private workforce.

Trump has appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, both highly smart and has extensive private sector experience, to head this long-awaited and vital job. Leaders will be tasked with the difficult task of rescuing the United States from bankruptcy and spending that has added a trillion dollars to the nation’s debt every 90 days. It is expected that the federal debt will total more than 35 Trillion by Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025. The interest on the US debt now exceeds one trillbe year of about 18% of the total federal budget. 
In contrast to the federal budgets of previous prominent committees and task forces in the last few years, the DOGE will adopt a distinctly new method.

Initially, the DOGE will operate separately from the government, focusing on presenting an ingenious company viewpoint on governance that has not been witnessed previously. Simply put, it is distinct from the 2010 Simpson-Bowles Commission, which was made up mainly of life-long politicians and failed to provide any practical resolutions or reduce costs in any way.
Additionally, the DOGE will prioritize openness by ensuring that all activities performed by the Department of Government Efficiency are provided online for public viewing, as Musk stated in a recent post on X.

Third, and maybe most notably, the DOGE will not solely focus on austerity steps. Instead, its mission is to “free” the U.S. economy from unnecessary red tape while ensuring the federal government is “liable to ‘WE THE PEOPLE.'”Fourth, DOGE will tackle the immense drain on the US economy attributable to the flood of illegal immigration that has saddled the economy with up to 50 million undocumented lines, most with few skills and training that are currently damaging our economy to the extent of an estimated 5 trillion annually.

Musk and Ramaswamy undoubtedly face a considerable challenge ahead.

The U.S. national debt has swollen to almost $36 trillion. This year alone, the federal government has run a $2 trillion deficit with around $1 trillion in debt interest payments. Even worse, the federal government is anticipated to run trillion-dollar deficits for the next numerous years. If not checked, this will bring about serious inflation, and Trump was elected on a pledge to stop inflation. 

Musk has said that the DOGE might easily cut $1.8 trillion in federal government spending. In 2024, the federal government spent around $7 trillion overall. Nevertheless, most of those costs went to the extensive three programs (Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid) on autopilot. Only about 25 percent of the federal spending plan ($ 1.7 trillion) includes all discretionary spending. This implies difficult decisions will need to be made. Although a successful DOGE is most likely to result in a decrease in federal work, the benefits will significantly exceed the downsides. In particular, millions of Americans will enjoy lower tax bills, and company owners will be able to commit more time to grow their businesses rather than handling complicated federal government documents.
Political leaders from various political backgrounds have been making pledges to reduce spending and diminish the huge federal government for a substantial amount of time. Despite the many unsuccessful attempts in the past, I think that an effective outcome is possible this time.

In 2015, Donald Trump pledged to drain the swamp. Thanks to the DOGE, it may finally happen in 2025.
